Green tea and black tea both contain lots of a substance known as catechins which help the brain to function. When the level of catechins in the brain drops, all cognitive reactions and responses slow and the appearance of being lethargic and very tired is noted. Catechins protect against mental tiredness and aid relaxation. Green tea has more catechins than black tea but both types are beneficial when taken regularly.
