If there was a battle between margarine and butter, it would be the original butter that would be crowned the winner. Butter and margarine have the same amount of calories. But the big difference is butter is a friend as it doesn’t have the same amount of trans fats as margarine does. So by using the margarine the LDL (bad) cholesterol is raised and the HDL (good) cholesterol is lowered. Dieticians report that to reduce the risk of developing heart disease use butter and if possible use whipped butter as this is has a lower calorific density.
