Almonds, walnuts and other plain nuts without candy coating makes a great snack and provides you with plenty of protein slowly released throughout the day. Your body needs protein and the amino acids in protein in order to make muscle. When you get rid of your fat, you want to replace it with muscle. Avoid roasted nuts because they are roasted in high calorie fat. If you can find them, eat the nuts with the papery skin on. Nuts are relatively inexpensive, portable and mix well in a variety of recipes. Add them to salads or entrees.
