This is a highly contagious disease and can kill approximately 30% of people who have been infected. If you don’t die from this disease it is more than likely you will have scars forever. Smallpox is now seen as being relegated to the realms of history due to mass vaccinations. However as people no longer get a vaccination to prevent it, there is a chance it could resurface again. In the 1900s the death total from this disease was 300-500 million people.
