Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome, AIDS
We have been aware of this disease and the virus HIV for the last 30 years and it has killed more than 20 million people. Tuberculosis and AIDS are nearly on a par with the amount of people who have died because of them, but there is no cure for AIDS. Indications of this disease are varied, ranging from diarrhea to weight loss and fungus growing in your throat, red and blue tumor marks on the skin. This has to be one of the worst diseases which can infect the brain and dementia develops. There is a high incidence of AIDS in African countries and life expectancy has been halved for many people. There is now a combination drug treatment which does help to increase life expectancy after infection however 2 million people per year die of this disease.
