4. Mental Pictures
By focusing on your own choice of mental picture you are avoiding thinking about the cause of the stress. Stop the mind racing, don’t think of the issue or problem. Think only of your focal subject. It can be anything. Perhaps you like the feel of a certain wood, or the smell of a plant or flower or you know an idyllic spot. Think only of your subject until you sense all of the things which you know are good about your subject. Make it as real as you can, fill in every detail and then the level of relaxation will increase.
